About Tadalafil

Typical label dose: 10 mg before sex; a prescriber may select 5–20 mg. Take at least 30 minutes beforehand, at most once daily for most patients. May improve erectile response for up to 36 hours; this does not mean a continuous erection. Food does not affect absorption. Sexual stimulation is required; it does not increase desire. Common effects include headache, indigestion, flushing, back/muscle pain and nasal congestion. Heavy drinking can worsen low blood pressure.

Prescription required in the U.S.; a clinician must assess suitability and choose the dose. Never combine with nitrates, nitrite 'poppers', or riociguat. Review heart health, kidney/liver disease, alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines and CYP3A4 interactions. Do not combine ED medicines. Get emergency care for an erection lasting over 4 hours; stop use and seek prompt care for sudden vision/hearing loss. For chest pain during sex, stop and get urgent care; tell responders when the last dose was taken.
